Broadway sings for Atlanta's Jerusalem House
On May 10th, 2010, Kevin Ireland, Paul Conroy and Shua Potter presented a benefit cabaret for Atlanta’s
Jerusalem House,
featuring sixteen cast members from the Mary Poppins Broadway National Tour - and dedicated
to the memory of Eli Saleeby. William Johnson was the music director and primary accompanist for the evening;
Jacob ben Widmar was our incredible MC. Thanks to all the cast members who helped make the evening such a success -
and thanks to the Ansley Park Playhouse for the use of your wonderful theatre. As videos from the show become available, they'll be posted below
(videography by Dan Lax.)
The cast donated their “quiet night”
to raise money to benefit individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Atlanta.
100% of ticket sales went directly to Jerusalem House, Atlanta’s oldest and largest provider of
permanent supportive housing for homeless and low income men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS.
We exceeded our goal of $2,000 and raised $2,500 for Jerusalem House.
For this one-night-only show, members of the cast performed musical theatre and cabaret standards
along with a number of new and rarely heard songs at the Ansley Park Playhouse in midtown Atlanta.
In addition to performing in many Broadway National Tours, members of the benefit cast have appeared on
Broadway in shows such as
West Side Story,
Spamalot,
Titanic,
The Music Man,
The Pirate Queen,
Me and My Girl,
Thou Shall Not,
Irving Berlin's White Christmas, and of course,
Mary Poppins.
“This was an unprecedented opportunity for an Atlanta audience to experience Broadway-level
entertainment in a small, intimate space - and all for a great cause,”
says Charlie Frew, Executive Director.
“We are very pleased with the success of this event.”
