Adam Lambert - Pre-Idol Performances
Adam has been working hard to build a singing career for quite a while.
Prior to appearing on American Idol, he performed as an understudy (Fiyero) in the LA cast of Wicked.
He performed one major solo as "Joshua" in the 2006 film
The Ten Commandments: the Musical with Val Kilmer. Adam frequently performed in LA venues and a number of YouTube videos demonstrate
his great vocal skills. He hoped that Idol would move his career to the next level - and he sure was right.
Adam's San Francisco audition for American Idol was aired on January 20, 2009. After he received four "Yes" votes from the judges, Kara said
"you'll kill them in Hollywood" and Paula stated "he's the best we've seen in every city."
Adam sang the Rolling Stones hit "Satisfaction" as the last performer in the Top 36 Group 2.
Paula said "you're in a league of your own."
Simon hated the beginning but "parts were brilliant."
Randy "loved it... You're one of the most current artists we've ever had on the show."
Kara said "your vocal technique and ability is outrageous... Who has a range like that?"
America agreed and Adam went on to place second in the competition..
